As a child I watched countless hours of television everyday after school. By the time I was a teenager I related more to TV characters than the people around me. Of all shows Married with Children stood out the most because of the mother, Peg Bundy. I was infatuated with her. I remember her high cheek bones, long legs and big hair more clearly than anything about the girl I lost my virginity to. One day while waiting in line at a grocery store, I made eye contact with an old lady with a giant red bouffant. When she noticed me staring, she smiled, pointed up with a finger nail so long it curled and said, “The higher the hair, the closer to God.”
